Item Description
Each member of this pair of clip-on earrings is decorated with a large faceted crystal at each end of a gilt-toned attachment chain. The crystals are attributed to the Austrian firm Swarovski which Dior sometimes used in its designs. Each clip is inscribed “Chr.Dior®Germany” on the underside. Although Dior is a French company, some of their designs were produced by German firms such as Henkel and Grosse. The House of Dior was established on December 16, 1946 and Dior jewelry was mentioned in Vogue Magazine as early as 1948 following which the firm rapidly became a leading haute couture empire. Christian Dior passed away in 1957. Well known personalities who have worn Dior creations include Betty Davis, Marlene Dietrich, Ava Gardner, Lucille Ball, and Madonna. Prominent designers working for the Dior firm have included Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Cardin. These retro style earrings are unused as they were housed in storage for many years.
