French Art Deco Style Clock by Hour Lavigne. This clock was produced circa 1970’s-1980’s by Hour Lavigne located in Sainte-Suzanne, a commune in the Doubs department of the Franche-Comte region of eastern France. The Hour Lavigne firm was established in 1848 by Charles Hour and Maurice Lavigne. Hour Lavigne is known for producing timepieces with heavy brass 24K gold-plated bodies. Their products have been have been described as representative of true French horological art and many were custom made. This late 20th century production has an octagonally shaped face, pierced black hands, and roman numerals. It sits on four round coral colored pillars which, in turn, rest atop a rectangular black and gold stepped base. It’s interior mechanism is housed in a striking art deco style frame in coral, black, and taupe. Quartz movement, battery operated. Marked on the dial “Hour Lavigne/a Paris dupis 1848/Made in France/Quartz.” Engraved on the back “France/1442 82.”
