French Jaccard UTI Faux Tortoiseshell Desk Clock. This desk clock was produced by the French firm Compagnie Industrielle de Mechanique Horological under the Jaccard UTI trademark. A characteristic of these clocks is that the alarm bell was on the back, rather than on the top, and produced a melodious sound rather than the harsh dinging often found on clocks with top mounted alarm bells. Quartz movement. Gilt circular marks in lieu of numerals. Hexagon shaped faux tortoiseshell case with gilt trim. This clock is marked UTI/Jaccrad/Quartz/France on its face.
