Item Description
German Earrings in the “Grossé Bijou” Line by Henkle & Grossé. These earrings for pierced ears consist of a black pentagon center, designed to simulate onyx, surrounded by two formations consisting of seventeen crystals framed in a contrasting gilt border. Henkel & Grossé’s jewelry was produced with clear and colored rhinestones, aurora borealis, faux pearls, lapis, and other stones. The firm evolved into one of the major haute couture designers/manufacturers for Christian Dior and for other high end names such as Schiaparelli, Jeanne Lanvin, and Givinchy. At the same time it maintained its own jewelry line named “Grossé Bijou” of which these earrings are a part. During the 1960’s the Grossé Bijou line was expanded to include the “Grossé Sterling” and “Grossé Gold” collections. Christian Dior Couture SA of France acquired Henkel & Grossé in 2005. No discernable mark, but the names ”GrosséBijoux” and “Germany” appear on the on the clipboard. This retro style item is unused as it was housed in storage for many years.
