These orb-shaped Nini Ricci earrings are divided into crystal encrusted quadrants by gold tone bands intersecting at their centers. The encrusted crystals are attributed to the Austrian firm Swarvoski which cut crystals for some of Nini Ricci’s finest haute couture jewelry including earrings and necklaces. Each clip is inscribed “Nini Ricci” on its underside. In 1932, at the age of 50, Nini Ricci and her son Robert founded the House of Ricci in Paris and it subsequently became one of the most prestigious names the field of French luxury goods. Madame Ricci passed away in 1970. In 1984 a partnership was formed between Nini Ricci Enterprises of Paris and D’Orlan Jewelers Ltd., and the two developed a highly regarded manufacturing process which includes a 22 karat triple-plated finish over a pewter base metal complemented with decorations such as rhinestones, precious stones, and machine-cut crystals from Swarovski. These retro style earrings are unused as they were housed in storage for many years.
