Item Description
Two Giltwood Fauteuils in the Louis XV Manner with French Gobelin Fabric. The French Gobelin style tapestry scene on this pair of matching armchairs depicts a water mill, a courting couple, a sheep, and a young boy with a pet goat. Carved fruits and floral giltwood arms, legs, apron, and crest. Padded back, front, arm rests, and seat in the same decorative fabric. A fully enclosed fabric backing makes each of the chairs visually appealing when viewed from any angle, back or front, thereby allowing for greater flexibility of room placement. Probably Italian but in the Louis XV French Rococo style. Circa 1950s.
