Item Description
A two-panel boiserie style door decorated on one side with gilt painted scrolls and a large applied gilt toned medallion-form within each panel. Brass handles and fittings with large keyhole. The reverse side is in bombe style and is decorated with a rectangular-form on the top panel and a square form gilt form on its lower panel. Boiseries were popular in 17th and 18th century French interior design and were also inspired by the look of the 19th century Italian royal court. This door is attributed to the mid- 20th century.
